Well done YB Datuk Fadillah…
KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Chief Datuk Haji Fadillah Yusuf wants Francis Paul Siah to retract his “threatening and seditious” blog article and tender an open apology to Chief Minister Pehin Seri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and the people of Sarawak within a week or prepare to face the consequences.
“You (Francis) must retract the article in your blog and seek an apology from Pehin Seri and the people of Sarawak or PBB Youth wing, besides lodging police reports, will meet Home Minister Datuk Seri Hisyammuddin Tun Hussein to initiate appropriate and stern action against you.” Fadillah, who is also Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, said this during an interview after attending the 7th Community College convocation ceremony held at Dewan Suarah here yesterday.
He was responding to reporters who wanted him to comment on the recent series of police reports lodged by PBB Youth Wing from the various divisions against Siah, the coordinator of Movement Of Change Sarawak (MOCS) who allegedly had posted a “seditious threat” in his blog.
“The article allegedly said that a massive demonstration would be organised if the Chief Minister does not step down within three months (before 31 August). Well, I give him from now a week to retract his article as the PBB Youth does not tolerate those who don’t respect the constitution, law and the voice of the majority (through election).” “This person (Siah) seems to be challenging our democratic system and in a way, he is directly insulting the present constitution which we abide.” According to Fadillah, he will try to set up a meeting with Siah before bringing up the matter to the KDN if he (Siah) fails to meet the demands of PBB Youth.
“The Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) has won the recent state election by two-third majority and it is solely up to Sarawak BN to appoint anyone to be the Chief Minister. In this case, it is Pehin Seri, the President of PBB which won all the seats it contested. “We will not bow to any ‘outside pressures’, especially those threatening the state’s harmony and unity.” “I urge the police to investigate whether this person (Francis Paul Siah) is being made use of and financed by some quarters to intentionally create havoc in the state, such as what is happening in some of the middle-east countries.I believe we have a security act that can be used in matters of this nature,” said Fadillah.
On Tuesday, Kuching Zone PBB Youth Chief Wan Hamzah Wan Paie and several other PBB Youth Executive Members from various other divisions had lodged separate police reports against Siah on the same matter. A day later, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Datuk Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar responded to the same matter and urged Siah to study on the process of democracy before making absurd demands. Fadillah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya earlier presented certificates to 199 Community College students who had completed various courses at four branches – Kuching, Santubong, Betong and Mas Gading. In his speech earlier, he said that changing the people’s mindset is an important aspect if this country were to be transformed into a modern one.
He commended the efforts made by the Community College for providing specific courses such as fashion designing, drafting and others which have a wider scope of job-market. Also present at the certificate presenting ceremony were a representative of Community College General Director, Haji Zulkifli Ariffin and the Directors of the other Community Colleges in Sarawak.
